 A versatile Plain Glove Pattern in four styles: fingered, fingerless, convertible, and mittens — and seven sizes. Worked in the round from the bottom up in Jamieson’s of Shetland DK and stockinette stitch, it’s perfect for those starting glove knitting or for adding your own custom designs. Convertible flaps are knitted separately and grafted on for a neat finish.

 

Construction

The gloves are worked from the bottom up. Flaps for the convertible gloves are sewn at the end.

Jamieson’s of Shetland, DK, 100% pure Shetland wool, 75m (82yds) / 25g (0.9oz) ball. The sample was knitted with #462 Ginger.

Fingered gloves: 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4) balls

Convertible gloves: 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4) balls

Mittens: 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4) balls

Needles

 1 set of DPNs size 3.5mm (US 2, UK 12, Japan 2-3) or size needed to obtain tension.

1 set of DPNs size 3.25mm (US 1.5, UK 12-13, Japan 0-1) or size needed to obtain tension.

  • Convertible Gloves: 2 x buttons and a crochet hook if you are making a crochet loop for the convertible gloves. 

Tension

 24 sts and 34 rows = 10 cm (4 in) using large needles in st st.
